Catch Report – 28 September 2014

We have been closed this week for one of our R&R weeks but we did have some family friends over for a session.  Jon and Tina live here in France but they have spent the last 3 months working hard to refurbish their house and decided that they needed a couple of hours away from it all to relax and unwind.

What better way than a spot of fishing.

Danny and Carol have been over here from the UK for the last 9 weeks giving Jon and Tina a hand with all of the hard work and they were equally in need of some R&R of their own.

Tina is another new entry to the fishing scene and she was over the moon with her first ever carp which weighed in at a very nice 27lb

27lb is a great level for any novice carper to start at, however I think that she has got the bug and could well be a future contender for Top Rod.

Jon thoroughly enjoyed the opportunity to introduce Tina to carp fishing and I think that he was as happy as she was when she landed her first big carp.  He had a great time splashing around in the water and he managed to break his PB with a lovely mirror at 38lb 02oz

Danny has enjoyed his extended holiday in France albeit a working one but it is back to the UK rat race tomorrow.  At least he managed to relax a little before his return, his best of the session was this lovely little mirror at 28lb 08oz

Once again the Top Rod award and the Big Fish award both go to a lady carper, Carol managed 4 fish with her best pushing those scales to a tad over 43 and a half pounds but here she is with another of her bigger fish at 36lb 08oz.  Well done Carol

The really hard fishing was done by Ken up on his corner.  He refused to give me any info on his tactics or bait, etc, but he has been there 24/7 working his favourite swim

All in all a great session, they must have caught 20 or 30 of last year’s babies but they did manage to find their way through them to net 9 nice big carp:

1 x 19, 1 x 20, 1 x 25, 1 x27, 1 x 28, 1 x 31, 1 x 36, 1 x 38 and 1 x 43lb.

Helen and I will probably see Jon and Tina through the winter and we are looking forward to coffee and cakes at the refurbished mansion but if not before I look forward to seeing the rest of the guys when they come back for another session next September.
